HC Deb 12 July 1933 vol 280 cc1080-1W
Sir J. WARDLAW-MILNE

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is now in a position to state what action, if any, has been taken by the German Government in the case of Mrs. Tebbitt, who lost her property in the Rhineland during the period of the British occupation

Mr. EDEN

His Majesty's Ambassador in Berlin was instructed on 5th April to present to the German Government a claim forex gratia compensation on behalf of Mrs. Tebbitt. The case is a very complicated one, and has involved litigation in Germany extending over 10 years. As no reply has yet been received from the German Government, I have sent further instructions to His Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires at Berlin to report how the matter now stands.
