§ Sir K. WOOD:Orders for the 1933 requirements of telegraph poles have already been placed; and the question of placing orders for Canadian poles is therefore not affected by present fluctuations in the dollar rate. Timber of approved species has not yet been offered to the Post Office from any Canadian source: and though I am in touch with the Canadian authorities as to the supply of samples of other species for test, considerable experience would be required before any conclusion can be drawn as to the "life" of these species in the conditions which prevail in the United Kingdom.
