HC Deb 18 December 1933 vol 284 c927W
Marquess of TITCHFIELD

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office what would be the cost to the State of restoring the marriage allowance to men in the Territorial Army under 26?

Mr. COOPER

Marriage allowance has never been issued to soldiers, Regular or Territorial, under the age of 26. The annual cost of extending the allowance to the number of married men under 26 who are now in the Territorial Army is estimated at £7,000, but the eventual cost of such a concession would probably be much larger.
