§ Mr. D. G. SOMERVILLE
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has made any inquiries as to the effect on the British industries concerned of the new oil-fuel tax which was imposed under the Finance Act of this year; and, if so, with what result?
The effects of this tax will be brought under review, as in the case of other taxes, in connection with the forthcoming Budget, but I am not prepared to make any statement at this stage.
§ Mr. CLARRY
asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the amount of revenue duty derived from any of the products, such as petrol, fuel-oil, &c., of the distillation of crude oil in this country during each of the last six months?
§ Mr. HORE-BELISHA
I regret that the information desired cannot be furnished, since the revenue accounts of duty do not distinguish between hydrocarbon oils of various types produced by the distillation of imported crude oil in this country and similar products of distillation imported as such.
