§ Mr. MANDERasked the hon. Member for Central Leeds, as representing the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, whether, with a view to protecting amenities, any future sales of glebe or ecclesiastical property in the immediate neighbourhood of churches will, in districts where a plan under the Town and Country Planning Act is in operation, only be sanctioned by the Commissioners after they have satisfied themselves that such sale will not be detrimental to the plan and after they have given due public notice to enable the objections of those interested to be entered?
§ Mr. DENMANThe Ecclesiastical Commissioners are concerned with sales of glebe under the Ecclesiastical Leasing Acts for the purpose of protecting the interest of benefices. No sanction given by them to a sale could override any provision of a town planning scheme affecting the area. There is no provision under the Acts for public notice to be given of any proposed sale.
