§ Sir J. GILMOURDr. Cotton held an appointment as medical officer at Bristol Prison from 15th March, 1901, till 30th September, 1927. The appointment was a part-time one, terminable with notice at any time; and it was terminated on the latter date after notice given to Dr. Cotton by the Prison Commissioners. The post was not pensionable, and no retiring allowance was payable.
