Mr. LAMBERT

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is the amount of mutton and lamb exported from Australia and New Zealand for the 12 months ended June, 1932, as referred to in the Ottawa Agreements; and what was the average, respectively, for the five years previously for the like period?

Dr. BURGIN

The agreed limitation in the case of Australia is related to imports into the United Kingdom during the 12 months ended June, 1932, and in the case of New Zealand to shipments during those months. Particulars of the quantities shipped from New Zealand to the United Kingdom during the period in question are not yet available.

The following table shows the total quantity of frozen mutton and lamb imported into the United Kingdom and registered during the 12 months ended 30th June, 1932, as consigned from Australia and New Zealand, respectively, together with the average annual imports from those countries during the five years ended 30th June, 1931.
