HC Deb 05 July 1932 vol 268 cc269-70W
Mr. DREWE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will introduce legislation to amend Sections 20 to 29 of the Weights and Measures Act, 1889, to extend the Law relating to the sale of coal to cover coke, patent fuels, and firewood in logs?

Lieut.-Colonel ACLAND-TROYTE

asked the President of the Board of Trade how many local authorities have forwarded him a resolution that Sections 20 to 29 of the Weights and Measures Act, 1889, should apply to coke and other fuel; and whether he proposes to take any action thereon?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

A resolution in favour of extending to coke and certain other fuels the provisions of the Weights and Measures Acts relating to the sale of coal has been received from 49 local authorities. It would be premature to promise legislation at present.
