§ Sir W. SUGDENasked the Minister of Health the number of reconditioned houses approved by his Department during 1931–32 for the county of Essex which, after alteration, have been possible of a maximum rental of £36 per annum; and the districts concerned?
§ Mr. SHAKESPEAREThe number of dwellings in the county of Essex reconditioned under the Housing (Rural Workers) Acts, 1926 and 1931, during the 12 months ended 30th September last was 27. My right hon. Friend has no information as to the rents of these dwellings or as to the districts in which they are situated. The rents, however, are controlled by the provisions of Section 3 (1) (b) of the Act of 1926, and would not ordinarily approach the limit which my hon. Friend names.
