§ Sir H. BETTERTONSo far as can be estimated, it is considered that the saving in the amount of transitional payments owing to the needs test is at the rate of about £15,000,000 per annum. The grant payable to public assistance authorities for the current financial year will amount to about £750,000; in addition there is some increase in the administrative costs of the Ministry, the amount of which cannot readily be estimated.
