HC Deb 12 April 1932 vol 264 cc671-2W
Mr. KIRKWOOD

asked the Minister of Transport what action is to be taken by the authorities regarding the refusal of the Lanarkshire Traction Company to observe the regulations regarding stances and routes in Glasgow, as laid down by the Traffic Commissioners and by the Ministry of Transport, seeing that the refusal of the company to conform to the regulations contribute to the congestion and danger in the main thoroughfares in the city?

Mr. PYBUS

Under the Road Traffic Act, 1930, it is an offence for the holder of a road service licence to fail to comply with any conditions attached to the licence. Proceedings for such an offence can be instituted by the traffic commissioners, by a chief officer of police, or by a local authority. I am sending a copy of the hon. Member's question and of this reply to the traffic commissioners. In view of their powers in the matter, the hon. Member may wish also to bring the circumstances to the notice of the Chief Constable and the Glasgow Corporation.
