HC Deb 21 September 1931 vol 256 c1285W
Dr. PETERS

asked the President of the Board of Education whether he can give any assurance, that the pension rights of teachers will not be affected by any cuts in salaries?

Sir D. MACLEAN

It is not proposed to make any Amendments to the provisions of the Teachers (Superannuation) Acts. Generally speaking, pensions are calculated on the average salary received during the last five years of service, and reductions of salary during that period will therefore affect the amount of pension payable.
