§ Dr. ADDISONI am informed that the average carriage rate, including shipping and rail charges, for the transport of sugar-beet from Newport, Isle of Wight, to the nearest beet-sugar factory, namely, Felstead in Essex, is 18s. per ton. The present average railway rates 2155W for sugar-beet from Hampshire, Sussex and Kent to Felstead are approximately 8s. 8d. per ton.
