§ Miss BONDFIELDThe total amount paid in interest on advances to the Unemployment Fund from July, 1921, when it was first necessary for the fund to borrow to March, 1931, was £10,182,255. During the period from the inception of the Unemployment Insurance Scheme in 1912 to 1921 the fund received £4,083,424 in respect of interest on investments made possible through the excess of receipts over payments.
