Mr. PERKINSasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that certain societies are providing fresh milk to school children, and the result of these experiments?
§ Mr. MORGAN JONESMy right hon. Friend has been asked to reply. He assumes that the hon. Member is referring to the arrangements for the provision of milk to school children organised by the National Milk Publicity Council with the co-operation of the board and the local education authorities. There is no doubt of the benefit to the health of school children which results from the addition of a supplementary ration of fresh milk to the normal diet, and I am sending the hon. Member a copy of the report of an experiment recently conducted in Lanarkshire. The results of similar experiments in England and Wales are described on pages 114–116 of the report of the chief medical officer of the Board of Education for 1929.
