§ Mr. RAYNESasked the Postmaster-General if he is able to state that he will not recommend any reduction in the salaries or wages of Post Office staffs, indoor or outdoor, where the present remuneration is 70s. per week or under?
§ Mr. ATTLEEThe remuneration of the Post Office staff consists in part of cost-of-living bonus, which is common to the Civil Service, and so far as the bonus is concerned their remuneration will be governed by any decision which may be arrived at regarding the Service as a whole. I have no proposal for reducing the basic wages of the Post Office staff at present before me.
