HC Deb 26 February 1931 vol 248 cc2303-4W
Mr. EVERARD

asked the Postmaster-General what will be the cost of a call from Guernsey to London and Guernsey to Jersey, respectively, when the telephone service to the Channel Islands is in operation?

Mr. VIANT

The charge proposed for a three-minute call between Guernsey and London is 5s. 9d. between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m., 4s. 3d. between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and 3s. between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Service between Guernsey and Jersey is a matter for the island authorities, who carry on the local telephone services under licence. I understand that the inter-island charge is still under discussion between these authorities.
