asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the total number of foreign manufactured motor cars and lorries in use on 31st January, or nearest convenient date, by each individual Government Department?

Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

The present number of foreign manufactured motor cars and lorries owned by Government Departments is 203 out of a total of over 11,000. The great majority of the foreign vehicles were purchased during the War and are now moribund. The details are as follow:

Apart from three cars purchased for use overseas as being specially suitable for the purpose, no foreign made vehicles were bought in 1930 for the use of Government Departments. Total purchases numbered about 900.
