asked the First Lord of the Admiralty the number of boy ratings of all branches of the Royal Navy who were invalided during the year ended 31st December, 1930; and the number in the same period who were invalided with tuberculosis and heart complaints?

Mr. AMMON

The number of boy ratings of all branches of the Royal Navy who were invalided during the year ended 31st December, 1930, were:—

Boys 44
E.R.A. apprentices 4
Band boys 3
Buglers (ages 15 and 17) 2

The number in the same period invalided with tuberculosis was two (including one case of tubercular adenitis). The number invalided for heart complaints was 17 comprising 15 of organic heart disease, one of rheumatic myocarditis and one of tachycardia.

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty the total number of naval and marine ratings invalided between 1st January, 1930, and 31st December, 1930, and the total number whose invaliding disability was accepted as attributable to service?
