HC Deb 12 February 1931 vol 248 c619W
Captain P. MACDONALD

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he has any information as to the number of unemployed farm labourers; and in what parts of the country is such unemployment most severe?

Dr. ADDISON

I have no means of ascertaining the precise number of agricultural workers unemployed. The areas which are reported as being most affected by unemployment this winter are the East and West Ridings of Yorkshire, Kent, the Kesteven and Lindsey Divisions of Lincolnshire and the Lea Valley glasshouse area of Hertfordshire. Reports have also been received that a certain amount of unemployment amongst regular workers exists in parts of East Anglia.
