HC Deb 11 December 1931 vol 260 cc2242-3W
Mr. D. G. SOMERVILLE

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to the large reductions of temporary technical staff employed by local authorities, such as the London County Council; the reasons which actuate such reductions; and whether, in view of the difficulties attendant on the collection of an efficient technical staff, he will suggest to those concerned the desirability of spreading any necessary discharges of technical employees over as long a period as possible?

Mr. E. BROWN

My right hon. Friend is not usually informed of the discharge of temporary or other staff by local authorities. He has no doubt that such authorities themselves will be alive to the considerations mentioned by my hon. Friend, and no special steps on his part seem to be necessary.
