HC Deb 03 December 1931 vol 260 c1272W
Mr. BOSSOM

asked the Minister of Transport whether any decision has yet been taken as to the Government's intentions regarding the dust and fume nuisance from the power stations; and when it is expected to receive the report from the Chimney Emissions Committee, which was set up to inquire into the matter?

Mr. PYBUS

With regard to the emission of sulphur fumes, I would refer my hon. Friend to the Second Report of the Committee presided over by the Government chemist which was laid before Parliament in November, 1930. The Electricity Commissioners inform me that good progress has been made by the committee to which he refers, but that they are not yet in a position to say when it will be able to present its report.
