SOMERVILLEasked the First Commissioner of Works the amount of damage to the British Legation at Managua as a result of the earthquake in Nicaragua; whether it is the practice to insure diplomatic buildings abroad; and, if not, what other arrangement is made for covering loss of this nature?
§ Mr. LANSBURYI am informed that the premises of the British Legation at Managua are in ruins. These premises were rented, and it is not expected that any loss will fall on His Majesty's Government. Following established policy of the Government's carrying its own risks, diplomatic buildings abroad are not insured against fire or any other risk.
