HC Deb 14 April 1931 vol 251 c28W
Mr. WHITE

asked the Secretary of State for War if he can give the House any information with regard to the prospective influence of the lower birth rate during the War on the size of the annual contingent of recruits in the chief conscript countries of Europe?

Mr. SHAW

So far as my present information goes, the lower birth rate during the War may cause a diminution in the prospective annual contingents of recruits conscripted in France, and probably also in Belgium, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia, and possibly in Poland.
