Mr. WEST RUSSELLasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what action he is taking in response to the request of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce that the Government should find a remedy to meet the inadequate yearly increase in the production of gold; and whether he has received from the Manchester Chamber of Commerce any concrete proposals to meet the failure, to which that body has drawn his attention, of the gold standard to work internationally?
§ Mr. P. SNOWDENI would refer the hon. Member to the answers I gave on this matter on 30th October in reply to questions by the hon. Members for Portsmouth North (Sir B. Falle) and Twickenham (Sir J. Ferguson).
