§ Mr. O. BALDWINasked the Home Secretary whether anæsthetics are used in prisons for women during childbirth; and, if not, whether he will see that their use is introduced?
§ Mr. CLYNESThe question whether anæsthetics shall be used is a medical question to be decided in each case on medical grounds by the practitioner in attendance. Prison medical officers have every facility for using anæsthetics, and are as free as any other practitioner to use them when they consider such a. course desirable.
