§ Mr. MAITLANDasked the Minister of Agriculture if he has received a copy of the Kent County Council resolution passed on 8th August, 1930, urging the necessity for the introduction of a Bill amending the provisions of the Fertilisers and Feeding Stuffs Act, 1926, limiting the powers of local authorities; and does he propose to take the necessary steps to give effect to such resolution?
§ Dr. ADDISONYes, Sir, and the suggestion contained in the resolution is entirely contrary to the views expressed by the Departmental Committee on whose recommendations the Act to which the hon. Member refers was based. The proposal to amend the Act which emanates from a few authorities only would raise highly contentious questions, and I am not satisfied that any such amendment of the Act is necessary or desirable.
