HC Deb 13 May 1930 vol 238 cc1642-3W
Sir R. ASKE

asked the Postmaster-General whether seeing that the additional rental now being charged for the new pattern telephone receiver is 16s. per annum, that the additional cost to the Department, apart from any increased maintenance charges, would be adequately met by five or six of the present quarterly payments, and that the additional charge for such an instrument has now been reduced in America by 50 per cent., he will favourably consider making a similar reduction in this country?

Mr. LEES-SMITH

I would refer the hon. Member to the first part of my reply on the 1st instant to the hon. Member for Newcastle North (Sir N. Grattan-Doyle).
