asked the President of the Board of Education if he will state the number of children in the schools aged 11 and over as at the latest date for which figures are available; and the number of children who may be expected to be in the schools at 1st April, 1931?

On the 31st March, 1929, there were 1,696,928 children over the age of 11 on the registers of public elementary schools in England and Wales. The total number of children in attendance at these schools on the 1st April, 1931, is estimated at 5,342,000.
