HC Deb 07 May 1930 vol 238 c980W
Mr. MATHERS

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether the suggested design of the buildings to be erected upon the Calton gaol site, in Edinburgh, has been approved or rejected by the Scottish Fine Art Commission; if approved, can he indicate when building is likely to commence; if rejected, will he state what further action he proposes to take; and will the existing model be submitted to the Edinburgh Corporation for consideration?

Mr. LANSBURY

The Report of the Royal Fine Art Commission for Scotland is unfavourable to the scheme which was submitted; the whole question is now receiving my careful consideration, and I will make a statement on the subject as soon as possible.
