§ Mr. HOPKINasked the Secretary for Mines if a doctor has been detailed to study the conditions in the anthracite district of South Wales, with special reference to the increase in the number of cases of silicosis and anthracosis during recent years?
§ Mr. TURNERI would refer my hon. Friend to the replies given to him on 18th November, 10th December and 20th February last. Medical research is being instituted into the whole question of pulmonary disease from silica and other dusts; but I have no information pointing to an increase in the number of cases of silicosis in this particular district or any evidence of cases of disablement due to anthracosis. May I repeat again the suggestion that my hon. Friend should furnish me with the information on which the statement in the last part of his question is based.
