§ Lord FERMOYasked the Minister of Agriculture if he proposes to institute an inquiry into the unrestricted dumping of foreign fruit; and whether he is aware of the position in which growers of soft fruit in this country now find themselves owing to the impossibility of obtaining adequate remuneration for their products?
§ Dr. ADDISONI am aware that in many cases growers of soft fruit in this country have been receiving unremunerative prices for their produce. As I indicated in my reply to a question by the hon. Member for Willesden East (Mr. D. G. Somerville) on 28th July, this state of affairs cannot for the most part be ascribed to foreign importations.
