HC Deb 18 July 1930 vol 241 c1624W
Sir W. de FRECE

asked the Minister of Transport if he has any statistics to show the number of public service meter vehicles owned by municipalities, railway companies, and public and private undertakings, respectively, at the latest available date and at dates 12 and 24 months previously?

Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

The number of public service motor vehicles (including tramcars, trackless trolley vehicles and other motor hackney vehicles with seating capacity exceeding eight persons) for which licences were current at any time during the quarter ended 30th September, 1929, was 63,769. The corresponding numbers in 1928 and 1927 were 60,243 and 56,555 respectively. I am not in a position to divide these figures according to ownership.
