§ Mr. BENNMy hon. Friend is no doubt referring to the firing that took place round the Sis-ganj Gurdwara on 6th May. The firing on this occasion was by the police. They fired in order to prevent a party of police who had gone to the rescue of their comrades from being heavily assailed by a mob with stones and brickbats. No Sikh troops were present and no troops, British or Indian, were called upon to fire. There were no casualties either among British or Indian troops.
