§ Miss BONDFIELDAt 30th December, 1929, the latest date for which figures are available, the numbers of musicians aged 18 and over recorded as wholly unemployed in Great Britain were 1,217 men and 295 women; corresponding figures for waiters and waitresses were 5,971 men and 6,972 women. I am unable to state how many of these were of British nationality.
