HC Deb 06 February 1930 vol 234 cc2105-6W
Sir R. GOWER

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that the use in this country of films which synchronise music has resulted in the dismissal of a number of British musicians from their occupations; and whether, with a view to promoting the employment of British musicians, His Majesty's Government will consider the desirability of imposing a prohibitive tariff on all such films seeking to enter this country?

Mr. W. GRAHAM

I have been asked to reply. The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As regards the second part, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given on Tuesday, 4th February, to a question by the hon. and gallant Member for the Wycombe Division (Sir A. Knox).
