§ Mr. SCRYMGEOURasked the Lord Advocate whether he will review the law pertaining to the hire-purchase system in Scotland with a view to amendment of the powers for inflicting imprisonment?
§ The LORD ADVOCATECivil imprisonment is not a method of enforcing a hire-purchase contract. It can only arise out of such a contract, as in the case of any other contract, where there is refusal to implement an order of Court to do a specific thing. The law in that respect does not, in my view, call for revision.
