HC Deb 02 December 1930 vol 245 c2002W
Lieut.-Colonel FREMANTLE

asked the Postmaster-General if he is prepared to sanction the insertion of a special clause in telephone contracts with officers of the Navy, Army, and Air Force whereby, in the event of such officers being moved elsewhere, the telephone agreement may be terminated at the expiry of one month's notice?

Mr. VIANT

Telephone agreements are usually for an initial period of one year and are subsequently terminable by three months' notice expiring on one of the quarter days. In view of the expense of providing the installation for which no charge apart from the rental is made, I regret that I cannot accept a reduction of the normal term or discriminate between officers of His Majesty's Forces and other subscribers.
