HC Deb 14 April 1930 vol 237 cc2646-7W
Mr. MacLAREN

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what sums have been expended by the Treasury upon legal costs in connection with the rate reliefs under the Local Government Acts in England, Wales and Scotland?

Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

I assume that my hon. Friend refers to proceedings which have been taken in the Courts in connection with the Rating and Valuation (Apportionment) Act, 1928. The net amount expended upon such legal costs, to 4th April, 1930, is £15,152 7s. 8d., of which sum £13,378 17s. 7d. is attributable to cases in England and Wales, and £1,773 10s. 1d. to cases in Scotland.
