HC Deb 09 April 1930 vol 237 c2176W
Mr. D. G. SOMERVILLE

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the number of passports which have been issued within the last eight months to British subjects wishing to visit Russia; and how this total compares with the corresponding figures for each of the two preceding periods of eight months?

Mr. A. HENDERSON

In view of the fact that passport applications are not classified according to the countries for which they are granted, it would be necessary, in order to obtain the information desired by the hon. Member, to examine approximately 360,000 passport application forms. Such an enquiry would clearly involve an increase in the staff of the Passport Office, and I trust, therefore, that the hon. Member will not press his question.
