HC Deb 31 October 1929 vol 231 c349W
Sir N. MOORE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has considered the advisability of permitting the general public to subscribe for Treasury bills in amounts of £100 and multiples thereof, with the object of decreasing the cost to the country of funds raised for public purposes by this means?

Mr. SNOWDEN

The sale of Bills usually ranges between £30,000,000 and £50,000,000 each week. It would be quite impracticable to deal with these operations by the tender of small sums such as £100.
