HC Deb 31 October 1929 vol 231 cc363-4W
Sir B. FALLE

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty by what authority a vacancy for a dockyard labourer in the photographic department has been posted on the notice board of H.M.S. Vernon stating that the pay, in addition to pension, starts at 35s. per week; and whether this is in accordance with Item 53 of Command Paper 149, of 1919, the Report of the Jerram Committee?

Mr. AMMON

The notice referred to was not intended to imply that the pension was taken into account in assessing the wages for the civilian post; and the merely informative reference to pension does not conflict with the statement in the Command Paper. The "bonus" of 14s. a week is payable in addition to the rate stated.
