HC Deb 31 October 1929 vol 231 cc357-8W
Major POLE

asked the Secretary of State for India whether he will inform the House as to the cause of the delay in the conclusion of a contract for the operation of an air mail service from Karachi to Delhi and from Delhi to Calcutta; and whether the Government of India still hopes the former service will be in operation before the end of the year?

Mr. BENN

The Government of India have found it more difficult than they anticipated to inaugurate these services, but they still hope that the first flight from Karachi to Delhi will be made this year.
