Mr. MARJORIBANKS

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will state the amount of reparation payments by Germany under the Dawes scheme for the year ended 31st August, 1929, expressed in sterling, showing each separate payment applicable to the British Empire, Army of Occupation, Reparation Recovery Act, and cash transfers, respectively?

The payments made by the Agent-General for Reparation Payments during the year ended the 31st August, 1929, to or on behalf of the British Empire were as follow:

Sums received in sterling:
(1) Through the Reparation Recovery Act procedure 16,374,027
(2) By Cash Transfer 9,002,793
Sums utilised in Reichmarks:
Payments to the German Government for supplies and services to the British Army of Occupation and on other accounts (G.M. 12,859,152) 630,351
Total £26,007,171
Of this sum Great Britain received £19,350,310 for reparations and £3,727,021 for Belgian War Debt, Army of Occupation and other Treaty charges, while the rest of the British Empire received £2,929,840 for their share of reparations.
