HC Deb 13 November 1929 vol 231 c2055W
Duchess of ATHOLL

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what capital expenditure on primary, secondary and technical schools, respectively, and other forms of building has been incurred by the Scottish education authorities, with the approval of the Scottish Education Department, since 1st April, 1924?

Mr. ADAMSON

The total capital expenditure incurred by education authorities in Scotland in respect of the purchase of sites and buildings and the erection, enlargement and alteration of school buildings since 1st April, 1924, was £4,475,000. To apportion this amount under the heads mentioned in the question would necessitate a lengthy investigation and I hope, therefore, that the figure I have given will be accepted as sufficient.
