HC Deb 07 November 1929 vol 231 c1264W
Mr. G. MACDONALD

asked the Minister of Health whether he is prepared to relax the Poor Law Regulations of 1911, in reference to the imposing of task work on able-bodied men, whose genuineness cannot be doubted, as a condition of receiving Poor Law relief?

Mr. GREENWOOD

The existing Regulations give me ample discretion to waive the requirement of task work in the cases which my hon. Friend has in mind, and I do not think it is necessary to make any alteration for this purpose.
