HC Deb 06 November 1929 vol 231 cc1050-1W
Sir N. GRATTAN-DOYLE

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has received any Reports indicating that any of the mechanical devices for the control of traffic at cross-roads have proved sufficiently reliable to justify general installation?

Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

The traffic control light signals systems which have been installed in this country, in America and on the Continent have been carefully studied. They are of many varying types, and uniformity is most desirable. With this object in view my Department, in conjunction with the Home Office and the Scottish Office, have recently issued a detailed memorandum indicating the lines upon which it is considered that the most satisfactory results are likely to be attained. I am sending a copy to the hon. Member.
