§ Major GLYNasked the Secretary of State for War whether he will reconsider the decision of his predecessor and again use the barracks at Knightsbridge for the regiment of Household Cavalry doing 656W duty in London; and, if not, what are the reasons that permit barracks which are old-fashioned and inconveniently placed from the point of view of modern traffic being retained, whilst a building built for the purpose in a convenient position is but half filled by a battalion of Foot Guards, as the site may not be sold or used for any other purpose, whilst Albany Street Barracks could be sold?
§ Mr. SHAWI am advised that Knightsbridge Barracks do not provide adequate facilities for drills and for instruction in riding and training for a Household Cavalry Regiment. I should add that the Knightsbridge Barracks are at present fully occupied by troops, transport, stores and offices.
