Mr. CHAMBERLAINOn the information available from local authorities, it is estimated that the amount of capital expenditure on slum clearance schemes in the last five years is roughly £5,250,000. The loans for this purpose sanctioned by my Department during the same period amount to £3,162,952; this sum does not include loans sanctioned by Parliament for the county of London.
