§ Commander BELLAIRSasked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that on the amalgamation of railways conversion schemes had to be entered on owing to different electrical systems having been previously adopted; and whether the electrical systems on the Southern and Great Western railways are such as to obviate any such difficulty in the future?
§ Colonel ASHLEYI am aware that the constituent railways of the Southern group were not electrified on the same system and that the company have found it desirable to alter the system on certain sections. As regards the future, the general question to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers has recently been exhaustively reviewed by the Railway Electrification Committee (1927), and I would refer him to their published Report.
